One of Us Foundation exists to prevent and control harmful behaviours by addressing early signs of mental health decline, self-harm, and other behaviours that may lead to harm towards oneself or others. Our mission is to foster a cultur where early help-seeking, open conversation, and accessible support prevent harmful outcomes and promote safer, healthier communities.
A central focus of our harm-prevention work is responding to the high rate of suicide among middle-aged men in Australia. By increasing awareness, delivering education, and strengthening safe, supportive connections, we aim to reduce the occurrence of suicide and self-harm within this demographic and prevent these behaviours from escalating into broader community harm.
Through targeted harm-prevention programs, community engagement, and evidence-based early-intervention services, we work to ensure that individuals recognise early signs of harm, access help safely, and understand that they are not alone and that they are, truly, one of us.
